Chancery Division Bundle

The Chancery Division sits within the Business and Property Courts and handles a wide range of equity, company, trust, insolvency, intellectual property, and property disputes. It includes specialist lists - the Business List, the Insolvency and Companies Court, the Intellectual Property List, and others - each with their own procedural nuances, all governed by the Chancery Guide 2022 (most recently revised September 2025).

The Chancery Guide 2022 was the first complete rewrite since 2016 and introduced substantial changes, including a move to electronic-only bundles as the default, page limits on skeleton arguments and statements of case, and detailed provisions on ordinary versus heavy applications. The overarching aim was to align Chancery practice with the other courts in the Business and Property Courts, particularly the Commercial Court, though differences remain where the nature of Chancery work requires them.

For trials, an electronic trial bundle and a separate core bundle are both required - the core bundle containing documents to be referred to most frequently, filed electronically and in hard copy. For ordinary applications, remote hearings are now the standard.
